Calliope is a macOS writing app built for authors and AI agents to work on the same manuscript. It connects to Codex, stores the manuscript in local files, records saved versions in Git, and can back up the complete history to a private GitHub repository.

What makes Calliope agentic?
Calliope gives Codex manuscript-specific tools instead of limiting AI assistance to isolated generation buttons. The connected agent can work with selected text, scenes, chapters, summaries, statuses, and project organization. The author continues writing and editing in Calliope while the agent works on the same manuscript.
How Calliope uses Git
Git is the manuscript history layer. Calliope records durable changes, creates recoverable states around agent work, supports comparison and restore, and can synchronize the complete history to a private GitHub repository. The writer uses these protections through the writing interface rather than Git commands.
Current availability
Calliope is in development for macOS. Codex is the current agent connection. Claude support is planned for launch but is not implemented. Public release timing and pricing have not been announced.
